Summer Too Hot

I don’t know about you but the summer is flying by. It feels like the kids were just released for summer break and I’m already getting flooded with emails and phone calls from the school district. As much as I love to be in communication with the school, I also want to enjoy the time I have left before being bombarded with schedules, paperwork, etc. I haven’t even been swimming yet.

I’m ashamed to say that I haven’t dived into the pool or stepped foot on a beach since summer began. I haven’t felt the sand between my toes or the salt water against my skin. Partly because my cousin told me about the shark attacks in the area, but also because I was working on my first small town romance. However, I refuse to let the summer pass by without at least going to the beach and dodging a few waves. In fact, I’ve already planned an epic vacation for myself and the kids.

This month I’ll be taking my teenagers on a blind vacation. They have no idea where we’re going. The only details I have disclosed are the dates and that we’re going to the beach, which could be anywhere. I’m so excited to see their reactions when we reach our final destination. And I can’t wait to be catered to and do all the touristy things.

When we get back, school starts a week later and the chaos begins. Nevertheless, I love finding the silver lining in everything. I’ll have the house to myself again and my fridge will no longer be a revolving door. I can work on my Christmas romance in peace without anyone tapping me on the shoulder and interrupting my flow. I can even sing Chris Brown songs as loud as I want and dance up and down the hallway without scrutiny, anything to keep me from losing my sanity.

Speaking of sanity, I pray the summer has treated you well, and if not, you still have time to turn things around. Maybe take yourself out on a date or have a spa day. Whatever you choose, just remember the month of August is all about clearing out the old and ushering in the new. It’s the perfect time to rest, reflect, and reset.

Until next time,

Lesanda
