In less than thirty days, I will be traveling to Detroit, MI for my first in-person event. I’m super excited and nervous at the same time. Making graphics and promoting on social media is a different beast than selling books in person. Thank God the event is strictly for booklovers, authors and readers alike, and I don’t have to explain why reading is important.
I first heard about Detroit Hustle and Grind Urban Literary Convention last summer on Clubhouse. One of my mentors attended last year and had nothing but good things to say about the host and the event itself, so when I saw the advertisement back in December, I reserved my table ASAP.
Fast forward to present day, I have been ordering more inventory, researching appropriate pricing, and promoting through multiple social media channels.
Not only am I grateful to attend an event with some of the most prolific Black authors of our time, but also to network with other people in the literary world.
So, I guess this is my shameless plug. If you’re in Detroit or the surrounding areas on Saturday, June 10, 2023, bring the whole family out and grab some signed copies from your favorite authors and newbies like myself.
I hope to see you there!
